Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP) was founded in 2004 and is made up of 37 public and private sector analysts and experts who pool their knowledge and research to inform decision-making within South Africa’s food production and processing system.

The NAMC supports and sponsors the Baseline Agricultural Outlook and the Food Price Monitoring. BFAP has also been instrumental in conducting in-house training for NAMC economists on Sector Modelling. The model assists the NAMC in it s analysis in trade and agro-food value chain studies as the model is a large-scale multi-sector commodity level model that currently incorporates thirty one commodities in a closed system of equations.
