Fezeka Mkile

Board: She is a Non-executive Director of different Companies: She serves in the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) and chairs the Human Resource & Remuneration Committee. She is the Chairperson of the Cookhouse Wind farm Community Trust and serve as an Independent Trustee. She is a Board member of Renewables Cookhouse Wind Farm 1(RF) (Pty) LTD and serve in the Social and Ethics Committee. She is an Independent Trustee of Fort Hare Piggery Trust and Fort Hare Dairy Trust and chairs both their Social and Ethics Committees. Fezeka is member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa (IoDSA) in good standing.

Education & Training Background: Bachelor of Administration (Durban Westville University), Diploma in Office Management and Diploma in Computer Skills (Infotech Collage), HIV/AIDS Counselling (University of South Africa), Leadership and Team building (Ubumbo Research Development) Being a Director part 1-5, Governance of Ethics, Mastering Chairmanship, Financial Insights for non-financial directors (Institute of Directors Southern Africa).

Experience/ Knowledge: FEZEKA has 19 years of professional experience with 08 years as a Non-Executive Director of Companies both in public and private sector. Her expertise is in Corporate governance and Leadership, Public Administration, Rural Development, Agriculture, and General Management.

Apart from being a Non-executive Director of companies, Fezeka is the managing owner of FEZZZ ENTERPRISES (trading as FARM 1000), a small holder farm in Wintestrand, East London. She has been extensively involved in community and agribusiness development. She has been servicing Mthatha Airport Agricultural Services (MAAS) since 2008 to 2014 as a manager whilst also a shareholder, that won her the SAB Innovation Award in 2011.  In 2012 she was the first runner-up Top Entrepreneur Commercial Female Farmer of the year by the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform in the Eastern Cape.  She was recognized during the State of the Province Address by the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Noxolo Kiviet in 2014 (through a CD Compilation).  She was used as a brand ambassador for the Eastern Cape Home of Legends: “Eastern Cape is more caring place than 1994, 59 000 people in the EC Province have benefit from food security projects”.

Fezeka is a former ECRDA Board Member under the portfolio of Deputy Chairperson, Chairperson of Finance and Investment Committee and member of the Governance Committee. She is a former Learner Support Officer of Technikon SA (merged with UNISA), and a Student Advisor for UNISA from 2000-2005.

She is a former CEO of OR Tambo Farmers Association an NGO funded by Swedish Cooperative Centre (SCC) that supported small scale farmers in South Africa from 2005-2008.

She has occupied many positions including advocacy roles within the Agricultural sector such as Chairperson of the OR Tambo Farmers’ Association, then the Secretary of the National African Farmers’ Union, then the Chairperson of the Eastern Women in Agriculture and Rural Development.
