The South African National Consumer Union was reacting to the latest National Agricultural Marketing Council Food Price monitor “which revealed that food prices had increased by a whopping 9,8% in January compared to January 2020.”
On 22 March 2021, as part of its transformation committee review, the NAMC was invited by the Mohair Empowerment Trust to assess progress on their transformation targets. Currently, all 17 beneficiaries were farming with angora goats commercially, contributing 13% of mohair to South Africa. A detailed report is to follow.
