SOUTH AFRICA’S AGRICULTURAL TRADE PERFORMANCE REMAINED POSITIVE IN Q1 2026

The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) acknowledges the findings and recommendations as outlined in the Competition Commission's Fresh Produce Market Inquiry (FPMI) Report published in 2025. The Commission investigated the possible existence of market features that impede, distort, or restrict competition in the National Fresh Produce Markets (NFPMs).

THE NAMC INVITES DIRECTLY AFFECTED GROUPS IN THE LUCERNE INDUSTRY TO SUBMIT COMMENTS REGARDING THE REQUEST FOR STATUTORY MEASURES NAMELY REGISTRATION, RECORDS AND RETURNS AND THE CONTINUATION AND INCREASE OF STATUTORY LEVIES ON LUCERNE SEED AND LUCERNE HAY IN TERMS OF THE MARKETING OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS ACT, ACT NO 47 OF 1996 (MAP ACT) AS AMENDED
