The latest food price monitoring report which the NAMC releases on a monthly basis shows that in January 2022 the nominal cost of the NAMC’s 28-item urban food basket amounted to R1 011.54 compared to the R1 001.18 reported in December 2021. This represents a monthly increase of 1.0% and a year-on-year increase of 4.1%.
